FCA Huddle Ministry Coaching Points
FCA works best when multiple coaches use their influence to grow and strengthen the Huddle. This is a proven strategy.
USE THE RESOURCES!!! This is like having a fabulous training facility. As a coach you would not let that facility go to waste. Money should not be an issue. If it is, call the FCA office and we help get your Huddle certified by providing strategies on how to get it done.
Develop a strong athlete “Leadership Team” to lead Huddle Meetings.
Meet weekly! Drive a “stake” in the ground at a regular time and location. On the front end this may not sound like a good idea. It is well proven that if you meet weekly, eventually attendance will grow and the Huddle will become more impactful to the teenagers and school campus.
Begin talking up camp from day one. Camp has proven to be the place where the highest percentages of kids receive Christ. There are all kinds of ways to raise funds for kids to go to camp. It is not hard; you just have to work a plan.
Select the next year’s “Leadership Team” in the Fall. That group then can be mentored by the existing Leadership Team and make preparations to attend FCA Leadership Camp in the summer. Leadership Camp will make a huge difference.
Have the FCA Huddle minister to the athletic teams and coaches by doing practical things for them (i.e., provide food (pizza, cakes, etc) for the football staff after games, provide notes of encouragement, provide the FCA “Heart of Coach” devotional book to every coach). The list goes on and on for both coaches and athletic teams.
Participate in Greater Fort Worth FCA Area Wide Events. These are great “portals” to introduce new teenagers to FCA and they also help provide enthusiasm for Huddle’s to sustain energy throughout the school year (see calendar of events).
Implement OW2P. It will make a difference.
Participate in Greater Fort Worth FCA fundraisers. We will offer some ways for your Huddle to raise money through some of our existing Greater Fort Worth FCA fundraisers. It is a “WIN – WIN” situation.
Identify parents that would help start an FCA Booster Club for your school district. FCA staff would then meet with these parents for training, etc. This Booster Club would help the FCA Huddles do the things they need to do to have effective campus ministry an outreach. These Booster Clubs are the future of FCA in terms of sustaining and growing the ministry!
