On November 17th, Grant Teaff will be the 18th FCA “Sharing the Victory” Banquet Honoree and Speaker. Coach Teaff has served as the Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association for the past thirteen years. Those familiar with college football, also know Coach Teaff from 21 years as head football coach at Baylor University.
He ended his head coaching career following the 1992 season. At the time of his retirement, his tenure at one school ranked No. 2 among active Division I-A coaches. He assumed the duty of athletics director at Baylor during his last season of coaching and would have remained in that position had he not accepted the AFCA post.
Teaff was named the Southwest Conference Coach of the Year six times and earned AFCA National Coach of the Year national honors in 1974 when he produced “the Miracle on the Brazos.” That year, he took Baylor to its first SWC title in 50 years and its first appearance in the Cotton Bowl.
Teaff-coached Baylor teams appeared in eight bowls. Among his most impressive teams are Baylor’s two SWC champions, the 1974 (8-4) and 1980 (10-2) Cotton Bowl teams. His 1985 and ’86 teams had identical 9-3 records and won the Liberty Bowl and the Bluebonnet Bowl, against LSU and Colorado, respectively.
Teaff has always been active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has served two terms as a member of the FCA Board of Trustees, including a two-year term as the Chairman of the Board.
Banquet Sponsorships are available at $10,000, $5,000, $3,500 and $2,000. Individual tickets are available at $100 and $200. Proceeds from the event benefit the FCA programs of Greater Fort Worth.
